Posture vs Time Out: which break reminder suits you?
Time Out, by Dejal, is a long-established Mac break reminder: by default a 10-minute "Normal" break every hour and 15-second "Micro" breaks every 15 minutes, with the screen dimmed and a customisable theme. Posture is newer and more focused: a guided 2–3 minute movement break every 30 minutes of active time, with a 3D figure that shows each move, on Mac, Windows and the web.

Choose Time Out if…
- You want the most configurable Mac break timer, with scripting (AppleScript, Automator) and custom break themes.
- You like long breaks away from the screen more than short guided ones.
- You want a mature app with a long track record.
Choose Posture if…
- You want guided movement, not just a pause: a 3D figure demonstrates each exercise and times it.
- You use Windows as well as a Mac, or want it in a browser.
- You want it to hold off automatically during calls and presentations.
Where Posture is weaker
- It's new. The Mac and Windows downloads aren't code-signed yet, so your computer asks once before opening them.
- It isn't open source, and there's no phone app (the web version works in a phone browser).
- Its breaks are a fixed 2–3 minutes; there are no 20-second micro-breaks.
